Hi Lee Smith, just wondering if I could talk to you about taking the steering wheel off, not sure if best to talk on here or on Facebook, I want to wrap the silver trim on the wheel, so I don't need to take it off completely, do I just need to remove the air bag and the trim should then be loose? Thanks

Posts in this thread refer to taking the steering column casings off as part of the process of removing the steering wheel and as I am considering a wheel refurb, this is something I may need to do.

When I had a little play at removing the lower casing however, the cruise control stalk seems to obstruct this as the casing seems to surround it.

Am I missing something obvious as I can't see any cut-outs or similar around the c.c. stalk?

there are 3 screws holding the trim.
And yes. it is the easiest to completely remove the airbag and the trim.

A steering wheel change is around 20 min if you have done it before or 30 min. if you have to find your way through it.

I have done it 4 times now, and I have never unplugged the battery. It isn't needed.
