What software are yoiu using ? if it has a 'freeze frame' function then what should happen is the instant the MIL light comes on a set of aparaqmeters are stored in the ECU for recovery later. It should give yoiu values for things like fuel pressure, temperatures, lambda values etc.
Another alternative is to drive with the laptop on the passenger seat and start monitoring parameters, a few at a time. This is really only useful if yoiu can make the fault appear at will. I'm not sure which parameters yoiu can monitor on the 3.2 because I don't have one, but if you end up suspecting a stretched chain then are there any parameters related to cam/crank timing (phasing ?)
