Swirl flap issue - Mapfre warranty
Hello guys, I've not posted before but hope someone maybe able to give me some advice. I bought my 1st Alfa in August, a 159 ti 2.4, and I'm absolutely chuffed with it. However, for a while it had been suffering from a slightly rough idle when fully warmed up. On the back of some good reviews on here I took it to Motor Mech in Birmingham and Paul quickly diagnosed the problem being one of the swirl flaps had come loose and was fouling an inlet valve. Paul replaced the faulty swirl flap and reground the inlet valve and now all is well. However, I've got a Mapfre after market warranty for which I was sure would pay out for a fault such as this. They asked for pics of the faulty parts and have refused to pay out due to the manifold and flaps having "heavy carbon deposits" and therefore not a sudden mechanical failure and as such not claimable under the policy.
Have any of you guys had any dealings with Mapfre or problems with aftermarket warranties paying out for this kind of fault?
