Re-mapping service for 1750 tbi 159

I'm looking at getting my car re mapped to get a bit more performance and am getting a bit overwhelmed by all the companies out there claiming theirs is the best.

I live in south Devon so don't want to travel to 100's of miles but don't want to just go to my nearest tuner as none locally, to my knowledge, are Alfa specialists.

I do make regular trips to my parents in Hampshire and I have seen a company there called AHM ( They look like they know their Alfa's and just wondered if anyone has had a 1750 tbi car re mapped by them and what they though of it and if there were any problems post mapping?

Any advise welcomed.

AHM have an excellent reputation on here, but you'd have to expect good things at the prices they charge

Loads of diesel owners have had remaps from them, but no TBi owners as yet from what I've seen but I'm sure the product is good. There are a couple of owners with the Novitec tuning box and they seem happy.

I'm also after hiking the performance of my TBi, for me the decision breaks down to these options:

AHM remap; will be good ; cost: £600 + travel costs and a day off work

Austec/Monza remap; maybe not as big an increase as AHM ; cost £375, only round the corner from me so no travel/time cost

Novitec tuning box; significant performance boost ; cost £435, easy to fit / remove

Powermap tuning box; as Novitec but power increase is adjustable, not as well known brand as Novitec; cost £415

TMC tuning box ; good reports for 1.4tb / other marques, adjustable power; cost £360

At the moment I'm swaying towards the TMC box

Thats good to know. Thanks.

I did think AHM were on the expensive side but I'd rather pay a few extra quid for the peace of mind.

I do like the idea of a box as they can be removed if required and if you get a problem with your ECU then you don't have to fork out for another re-map.

I did have a tunit box on my old 5 series diesel (bad days) It did make a big difference but I also had to have all the injectors replaced and a new turbo about 40,000 miles after fitting the box at a cost of over £2.5K. Don't know if this was to do with the box or just bad luck.

AHM claim 240 BHP and 295 Lb torque which sounds like fun.

Looking at something in new year so will post results whichever I go for.
