I have had a very similar experience to BoroBrera
my story goes like this:
I bought a alfaromeo 159 ti about 9 months ago but coming from the german competitors for almost all my life i thought to give the alfa romeo a go as the 159 as been "flirting" with me in a near garage
beautiful look and drive but being a 1.9 diesel (my first diesel car ) i always been disappointed by power so begin of november after reading many reviews on this board i gave angel a ring for a remap and i took advantage of the home service, the engineer came around and was very plesant to talk to him after mapping my car there was no doubt about power improvment and mpg too, unfortunatly after 3/4 weeks the car goes into limp mode,
as i never heard of this i started to read this forum and i was introduced to the new world of DPF
being around christmas period angel as many garages have closed their office so i had a car on limp mode all through christmas by this time i was thinking that i have done a wrong choice and i should have gone for the german car makers as my 159 was beautifully sat in garage and when driving even a robin relianto was faster then me.
I probably read all the thread in this forum about DPF EGR valve ECU etc etc so instead then sulking i got on with it
registered version of multiecu scan, obd cable and a brand new egr valve, with you guys help it was no problem to change the valve but even with new valve the car would no force regen error p1206 valve clogged
i was sick of it and waited for angels to reopen.
talking with guys at angels they explained that dpf removal was the only solution but i leave far from them and i did not fancy do a 3/4 hrs trip on motorway at 60mph so i rang Gus at alfatune that open my eyes to a few solutions, after i spoke to him i could easly understand his knowledge in this field (im a business man too )i then decided to take my car there and let him remove and remap my 159.
3 hours in garage i picked my car up and i could not beleive it was the same car, the changes are amazing as i was smiling all the way down the motorway, i hardly beleive that a 1.9 engine can delivery such power, im so over the moon as now im sure i done the right choice on buy my alfa and having Gus work on it
Thanks Gus i will see you when my service is due
