Owned a 2.2 and driven a friends Mito a lot of times, honestly I feel I would be dissapointed going from 159 to Mito. Mito basically has 2 upshots on the 159 performance and fuel economy but otherwise the 159 mops the floor with the Mito, handling 159 hands down wins, a Mito has a simple torsion beam rear suspension, 159 has 4 link independent suspension (racing car level suspension) comfort is much better as the Mito is a Tad bumpy, interior quality I'd day and night, Mito is a plastic explosion inside while almost all of the interior on the 159 is soft to the touch and plush. Build quality is about the same I must say the Mito is well put together for a small car aimed at the richer college student but having a look at most of the chassis and suspension parts its easily noticed that the 159 is built like a tank in comparison. The 1750 159 is the only obvious choice really. And I know it sounds like I'm doing some serious Mito bashing but remember that the Mito is made to be a smaller less expensive car for students or moms etc etc. The 159 is aimed in a complete different direction. Comfort, class, business etc. So to be honest comparing a Mito to a 159 is not a fair comparison.
