suggestions please - I bought a problem car from a dealer
I recently bought a fantastic looking car (spider I.I.) from a big jaguar dealership. Here is the background. I live in the Isle of Man, the dealership is on the East coast of England. A visit to them would cost me at least £300 (Ferry + petrol) plus an overnight stay, so visiting them is very unpractical. The car is just over 2 years old and still has 10 months warranty. It was agreed that I paid the full asking price but they would give it a full 42,000 mile service before selling it to me. It has done 38,000 miles and the service book was been stamped by them 3 weeks ago. I have requested and am still waiting for the service report which I hope will detail all the things they did. Here are my problems:
1. The car was advertised as having heated seats. Two weeks after I bought it I realised it doesnít.
2. There was a LOT of condensation inside the boot lid, I was told it was probably due to the recent valet jetwash. After I got it home I looked in the spare wheel area, there was 2Ē of water in there. I have since found out this is not uncommon.
3. I was told (only have verbal of this, nothing written down) it is company policy that all customers should have 12 months worry free motoring, i.e. anything close to wearing out would be replaced before a sale. I pointed out that although there was plenty of wear in the tyres and pads, it was unlikely I would get 10,000 miles / 12 months use out of them.
4. There is a fairly heavy oil leak from the rocker cover which I spotted 5 days after getting the car. I told the Jaguar dealership. It is currently being investigated locally and Iím hoping this will be covered by the warranty
What are your comments on how to progress?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Being an Alfa, there are of course some other problems which I havenít told the dealer about as Iím not sure it would be their responsibility, to be continued on another thread.
PS I still love the car!
