Air flow meter? - flooded roads..
Evening Alfa Owners,
Had the misfortune of being forced to stop whilst passing through a deep puddle late last week due to the driver ahead of me panicking and freezing (should have waited for the car ahead to clear the flooded area before entering, doh!).
About 1/2 a mile further I noticed the car juddered a little when acelerating followed by a loss of power which is most evident when pulling away from a standstill. More smoke is evident and the car feels like there isn't enough air going through until the rev's finally build up. Also very little response from the turbo until the engine is revving high.
Currently the car is with a (trusted) Indie garage who inform me that although the air filter is bone dry there is sign of water ingress but no signs of damage to the engine (fingers crossed). No warning lights on the dash but the mechanic is 80% sure that it is Airflow Meter; not a cheap part to replace on the 1.9 JTDM!
Have had a sooted EGR in the past but this was quite different as the behaviour of the engine then was totally predictable (lack of power until 3000rpm), the behaviour now is not so much.
Any advice would be much appreciated,
