Makes my booking into Angel Tuning at Banbury a good decision , seeing as this electronics manipulation of DPF/EGR leaves my brain(such as it is)in a state of chaos ! I can get my head around anything mechanical but just go blank regarding electronics . At £330 for EGR , DPF plus remap , I couldn't resist it.
Actually, just thinking about it, it's £330 for the remap.
The dpf and egr are free
Your first message after remap will be 'It pulls really well from low down'
That's just the effect of taking the dpf out of the system, I have the same benefit here. Both our egr's will be out of circuit, so that's no different either.
I'm getting plenty of torque from 1250rpm in every gear
Depending which map you're going for, if it's a mild one then you'll probably have a smoothed out turbo transition between open loop and closed loop modes (1750rpm - 2300rpm, give or take a bit), and a bit of extra fuelling further up the revs. I'm normally going for my next gear at below 1800rpm now (thanks to the dpf problem going away) and because I'm normally less than 50 yards behind another car then ramming it through the revs is pointless.
So then it's down to improved economy....we'll both be in the same ballpark there, the biggest improvement to economy comes from clearing the dpf from the system somehow, either partially or completely.
So what's £330 for performance which isn't that much better than the £20 option, when I'm happy to let you beat me in a straight race....I'll just see you on the corners instead
