Low rpm (lack of) performance
Another tip from the Vectra forums, regarding the 1.9 engine. There seems to be a known problem with the wiring for injector 3, causes juddering and low power.
You can remake the connection, use switch cleaner and the problem goes away but it comes back.
Vauxhall have recognised it as a problem and provides a replacement injector 3 wiring kit, for about £15
Seems to hit 2006 cars more than others
I checked my connectors lastnight (which I have done before), only this time I used a spray of switch cleaner in each side fo the connector, on the injector plugs, the MAF plug and the VTN turbo vacuum solenoid and the sensor on the back of the cam pulley housing.
What a huge difference. It can now pull cleanly from a little over 1000rpm in 2nd and 3rd, 1200rpm in 4th and 1300 rpm in 5th.
Seems like a little bit of a resistance in the MAF or the injector wiring is causing a big problem.
If you have a lack of performance low in the rev range, and/or juddering, and you've already tried the EGR system, it's got to be worth a try. I used Maplin's switch cleaner, product code N61AN, which is a cleaner and doesn't leave a residue.
I'm going into my workshop tomorrow where I keep a few bottles of Caig 'Deoxit', which maintains poor connections in good condition, but any contact protector on the plug spades does just the same job
