replacement for 159 - recommendations?
I've had my 2006 159 jts 3.2 q4 for a couple of years now. Fantastic car and I love it to bits. Even after 2 years it's still a pleasure to drive and look at.
With that said, at 6 years old it is getting a bit long in the tooth. If alfa had a newer model I'd pick that up in a snap! I'm thinking of replacing it as I like to upgrade every 2-3 years to newer cars. With the newer cars, I like the connectivity options (bluetooth streaming, satnav etc) which cars circa 2005-06 don't seem to have.
When I've looked around, there's not a lot out there that matches up with the 159. The 159 has fantastic looks, a great interior, plenty of toys, enough power & nice engine note. Downsides are fuel economy & it eats tyres - both of which I can happily live with. But being in Australia, second hand cars are rather pricey - especially european cars.
- BMWs: Either a 5 series or an older 7 series (2005ish). I'm tempted by the 7 but a bit worried about the cost if something goes wrong. 530i or 540i with factory sports kit does look quite nice, and I think would be a good drive.
- Audis: A4 or A6, but somehow they just don't seem to do it for me. Nice, but a little bland and too slow, and I couldn't stand not having a nice engine note any more!
- Merc C class: booooring. Out of the question.
- Volkswagen CC v6: This is looking like a serious contender. Lots of power, 4wd, 0-60 in 5.6, nice engine note, all the toys, looks nice, only downside is the interior is a bit boring compared to the alfa, and its a VW.
Any other suggestions? Anyone else owned/experienced any on the above list? My choice would be so much easier if a 159 replacement was available!
