clutch pedal again

I know this thread has be done a death however after researching alot of them it seems to be down to either the mats or the master cylinder.
I know its not my mats as it does it even when there not fitted. I have also had the master cylinder changed for no significant change.
Does any one have any other ideas??
It seems to get stuck on the way back up just below the brake pedal. Can lift it up with my foot and its fine for a while but then happens again.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

This might offer a clue : - relates to a similar problem with the brake pedal but the clutch pedal gets a mention too, .

Same problem here and it gets worse when the weather is colder. Clutch pedal sticks down and brake pedal doesn't return 100%. You don't always notice the brake pedal sticking but "hill holder not available", "VDC inoperative" or, when dark, the high level brake light on are the give away.

It is not the carpet and I have had a new master cylinder fitted by AHM and lubricated both pedals. None of this has cured it and the clutch pedal needs lifting the last 1" to 1.5" with your foot.

Now, I have noticed that taking the lid off the fluid reservoir does give a temporary cure so I am thinking the master cylinder may be pressurising. Is there an air bleed system on the filler cap and can it get blocked?

same issue for me... didn't notice when I bought the car, it seems to ease off doing this after a while though?
