I thought alfawoners were above the bad reputation crap. What said before about having money to pay the repair was a joke and I say it sarcasticly to my fellas.
I've had 6 italian cars including 3 alfas. Not a single one of them let me down, never stayed in the road wayting for the AA. Never a single one of my cars had snapped cambelts, or catastrofic enginne rebuilds. The most expensive parts I had to pay where a clutch, suspension, radiator and a couple of pumps.
Is that unreliable? I have to say that all my cars where bought on second hand. I just buy second hand cars but with no more than 60k.
I also have to say I have/had in my close family a toyota yaris, audi a6, golf IV and a Polo all of them bought new.
The yaris had a gearbox chenged 2 months after buy, with the company not paying it.
The A6 had a tensior/belt failure at 60mph, completly destroid the enginne, a new car with 5k. The bill for repair was £5000!!!!
The golf IV had a brake failure that lead to a accident fortunalty into some trees, also stearing, clutch, overheat issues with tousands spent.
The three cilinder polo is the best one. Had the enginne reconstructed at 10k due to a manufacturing problem in the pistons, VW payed it. 2 Months later cambelt gone. Half a year after clutch and gearbox.
For all that I cant concive how there are still alfa romeo owners saying "oh yes they are unreliable but I still love her".
Thats rubish they are as reliable as the best you can get.
