I have had my Brera for three years now, bought it from Fiat/Alfa/Lancia dealer in Munich-Germany with 22k km. Was mainly looking for the 2.4 JTDM with Q-Tronic and preferably white or black. So i got the white one. It has all the options except the big screen navi, only small one. But nevertheless, when I need good navi I use my phone.
Specefically I was looking only for these engine mainly due to recomendations from ppl that work with italian cars. The V6 engine comes from GM,not italian at all and is prone to many problems after you reach around 100k km, altough I wanted it because of the all wheel drive Q4. The 2.2 is quiete weak, only 180 doesnt seem so much for such a heavy car and again, comes from GM, so not italian. The only good is the new 1.8Turbo which is pure italian, but doesnt come with automatic, which i prefered. Btw the q-tronic transmission is very good,no problems so far, have 58k km on without any problems, which is not so much, but still worth mentioning. For the diesel engines was mostly 2.4 which is also italian and as I heard is very good, not prone to many problems that would cost a fortune. The other, kinda new engine 2.0diesel was without automatic aswell, but again i think 170 horses and sound of 4cylinder diesel on such amazing car doesnt go together, at least from my point of view.
So I am recomending you the 2.4, altough many people say that diesel in Brera sounds funny, but it is not so bad, also the sound of it when you push the throttle down even a bit doesnt sound like diesel. With this 5cylinder is very different that when you compare it to V6 diesel from audi or vw.
I am very happy with my car, will most probably never sell it. Made the complete triplle DRL angel eyes conversion, I have racechip on it and two days ago finished painting it with plasti dip to matte white and my 19inch rims to matte back. Very hot right now
