I've had upper arms go on both a GT and a 159.
The 159 made a distinct metallic clatter when going over anything resembling a bump. Even going up/down the dropped kerb of our drive did it.
The rubber perishes or moves leaving the metal components to connect when the arm moves at a certain rate.
To check, jack the wheel up off the ground and bang the top of the wheel/tyre hard. You will probably hear the metallic clatter then.
If not, agree with the wheel bearing suggestion.
