My gearbox is now out,
(Took over a week simply because it was all but out last friday, only 2 bolts and the engine mounting left, but I didnt want to leave it sat on the drive all weekend, then the mechanic got tied up on other jobs and he didn't come back till yesterday, Can't be too fed up about that though as it's the brother in law and I;m paying him in beer rather than cash)
I think we did lots more work than was actually required to get the box out, subframe off completely (So I can clean and repaint it) both hubs/break assemblies off, total job time to remove everything was 6 hours.
Autodata quote 6 hours for a removal and refit, but like I said I think we did more than was required.
Should go back on in about 4 hours I would guess.
The starter motor is a complete pig to get at, the top bolt on that was probably the hardest bolt of the whole job! but it's not in very tight to start with so they must have trouble in the factory as well (unless mine has been replaced in the past?)
Anyway, mine also has one bearing disintegrated and the rollers from that have smashed the teeth from the top 2 cogs (6th gear I think) So sounds like yours, I won't be attempting it myself though, just about to email pics round to see what prices I can get.
