Just to add my two pence worth( and thats all its worth), I am new to running diesels, so these discussions are of great interest to me. On a general note about supermarket -v- forecourt, without a doubt there is a difference, yes they all tend to come from the same refinery but as somebody pointed out there is an additive package. I worked for many years in the Chemical industry, next door to a refinery, a retired lab manager is a friend of mine, I have often asked about the difference between fuels and he has refused to answer BUT, he will say that he only buys forecourt fuel, good enough for me. My JTS ran like a dog, on Morrisons fuel, I started to use Esso or Shell after a dose of BG44 and my rough running problems disappeared, so my experience says use branded fuel.
On to the diesel thing, my Daughter and son in law both run diesel cars and use bio diesel up to a mix of about 60% and so far there are no issues. The Jeep was recently MOT'd and showed a very low emission and almost no smoke, to the best of my knowledge this vehicle does not have a DPF. The same pretty much applies to my daughters Fiat although that is a little more sensative.
So, what do I use in my Brera, so far just forecourt fuel with a dose of rhino, so am I wasting my money on this stuff, should I be using 2 Stroke, I have a load of the stuff in my garage for my M'bike and garden tools, its all a very confusing argument.
OK now finished, still confused.
