I was wondering if you could help me! the power from my car is getting less and less, month by month...and so I thought i'd take a look at it tonight... I've uploaded a video, because grabbing a photo is near impossible..
Anyway i looked at how the system works..and realised which part of the circuit was vacuum, and which was pressurised. everything is secure from the IC to the Throttle body. It also made me realise that the boost gauge tells me literally nothing about turbo pressure from the pressurised side.
Anyway, looking at what i believe to be the turbo to Intercooler pipe, it looks like one pipe is 'sleeved' into another, underneath the frayed metal heat wrap.
Now obviously this is idiotic, it can't be two pipes simply shoved together, so I'm wondering if the pipes outer has delaminated, (the material looks a lot what was used to join the hard pipes on my BEGi Turbo for my MX-5) and hence i'm getting a lot of boost leak, even though the boost gauge is telling me i'm getting the full 1.6 bar.
See what you can see on the vid and let me know, i'm going to have a fondle down there in the morning, as i didn't really want to put my hand down past the exhaust manifold while it's red hot!
Anyway HERE is the video!
You'll need to embiggen it to see whats happening
