Improvement after new clutch
Ive just had my clutch replaced on my 1.9 JTDm, dual mass flywheel, plates and slave cylinder.
Firstly the difference in feel is fantastic, that hesitant pedal now rises to the top and there's is no play what so ever. Its so much softer to depress now as well. But the by far the biggest difference is the noise ... The engine doesn't sound anywere near as clunky and that cold start ( what I thought was misfiring) has completely gone. It even cranks over quieter than my old mans 1.6 Astra now, as apprised to trying to jump start a 747.
Really chuffed. I brought the kit from eBay list price 360 but offered 300 and a bit of postage which a place called Catherine street motors accepted for a NEW valeo kit consisting of DMF, Friction Plate and Pressure Plate.
I had to get a LUK concentric slave from GSF car parts costing 120, then just had to have it fitted.
I wasn't going to pay extortionate labour so I found a small back street place who specialised in clutches and they quoted me 250 fitting inc vat. I was always hesitant about using them as obviously the setup wasn't as proffesional as a main dealer. But they had my car in at 08:30 and I picked it up at 15:00 all done and dusted perfectly. There called A&R autos in Norwich and think its only fair I compliment there work for anyone local.
So a new fitted DMF clutch for £675 .... A snitch at what you would pay main dealer or "Alfa Specialist" and the quality of the parts and job is no different.
