Oil Change warning
159 Lusso, 1.9JTDm on a 58 plate.
Had service and cam belt changed at 85000 miles, when I bought the car, less than a year later and now at 95k miles the car is telling me it needs an oil change. The oil looks black and feels thin and the level is near minimum.
I'm going to get the oil changed anyway, 10k is long enough for me. Nationwide will do it for £50 (plus a small charge to remove the undertray £5 to £10). Not worth my while doing it at that price. They will use Castrol Edge 5W40.
So, what i want to know, if anyone can help is; does the car actually detect poor oil and therefore it either wasn't changed at the service, or has degraded quite quickly as I do a lot of town driving, or perhaps they didn't reset the service intervals properly? The correct interval is 21k miles. What do you think?
Thanks for any help.
