Problems towing with Brera
My recently acquired Brera 2.4 JTDM Qtronic 2009 model 210 HP has had Angel Tuning DMF and EGR disable and remap. Runs well enough ( 36000 miles). BUT, ... towed a caravan down south of France last week and at the first sign of an incline car stuttered and almost stopped !. I had been running in Winter Mode ( for economy more than anything ) and had the cruise control set at 60 mph. I had to revert to Normal gearbox mode and switch off the Cruise control before I could continue. The car then ran reasonably on the flat but then c gave the following problems ( when the caravan was attached ):-
When running at c. 1800 rpm in 4th 5th or 6th gear the engine ran very roughly the whole car shaking.
Over 2000 rpm much improved and on the flat would also pull at c. 1500 rpm even in 6th gear ! But around 1800 rpm problem reappears.
When climbing if gearbox changes down 6th to 5th or 5th to 4th the turbo boost climbs rapidly to c. 1.5 bar as the gear changes and then cycles rapidly up and down between c. 0.8 bar and 1.2 bar. This is accompanied by various whining noises and Whooshing noises
The problem is even with 6 speeds the gap between ratios means that you cant keep the engine spinning at 2000 rpm nor really keep the revs down at 1500 rpm either. Comments please !
