Kenwood Nav Installation Advice

I just bought a Kenwood DNX9280BT satnav head unit for my Spider and have read a few posts about different components needed. I know a few members have done this already so any advice on exactly what I need would be most welcome. I'm particularly interested to know about the delay timer - what it's for and recommendations; can the existing B&M mic be used or do I need to run a new one? And hints on GPS receiver location/installation.
Alternatively - if anyone has had a similar unit installed in the South East I'd be very interested to learn where, as the guy at Sextons in Portsmouth said "Alfas are particularly difficult" at the outset.
Thanks for any help.
