Well Happy

Just about to scrape knuckles, dpf temp sensor to be replaced, then onto the fun part of fitting hid kit. Pleasure/pain balance will be maintained.

Is that a powder coat or spray job? I only ask as the finish is very similar to the "Power Silver over Black" finish on mine where they powder coat black and then spray the faces silver to create a polished / chrome effect. After 18 months of use the sprayed surface has taken some high speed stone impacts and broken free exposing the powder coat and they need doing again but I don't want the same approach this time as it will go the same way, I just want the finish and if yours is a powder coat only its as close as I have ever seen to it so very interested to know where and how much!

Cheers

It was advertised as a 2 stage powder coat process at about 80 a corner, which isn't cheap. Only time will tell how well they last.

As long as its just powder coat rather than powder coat and spray it will be fine As I said, the actual powder coat on mine is still 100% intact but the silver spray & top-coat has chipped away in places, so I definitely would not advise that as a process.

Broke the locking nut key after getting three wheels off for refurbishment, I now have three black wheels on and one silver. Local friendly dealer to the rescue on Monday. Can of tyre weld in the boot until then...

159 3.2 q4 sw

finally received my Alfa 159 SW 3.2 Q4...

Things take a little longer and a great deal more paperwork here in Italy so exactly 4 weeks after paying for my 159 SW 3.2 Q4 its actually sat outside my house!
It being an Alfa and this being Italy of course it didn't make it the 300km from the used car dealer in one go... the dashboard lit up like a xmas tree and the thing died on the autostrada... Alternator was the culprit.
A day in a workshop (with a mechanic who was not overjoyed at the prospect of the job) and 720 euros later and it's made it home. still some random fault codes, potentially a broken sping at the back, red powersteering fluid (im guessing thats an 'uh oh') and the aircon in dead but on the plus side it looks fantastic!

Hoovered the inside (myself), then the Eastern Europeans did the outside, as usual I had to finish off the 'chrome' round the lights and grill myself, they never do that bit well.

Throttle body cleaned on relatives Vectra 1.9 cdti. Not too clogged.
Throttle body cleaned on my Alfa, what an utter mess. How air got through I do not know.
The engine must feel better, I certainly do.
Thanks to Pete McK for the advice.

Took the back boxes off to look at getting some straight pipes and new oval trims fitted instead of the boxes. Unlike the experience of some on the site I didn't have to remove the bumper, the profile of the box allows it to move inside the bumper enough to get it out. The key is to clamp the Y shape pipe before you start wiggling, too about 40 mins taking it steady. Also glad I had ramps and dry weather too
