159 ti 2.4jtdm

Fitted a shiny new set of 19's... The old ones were a little tatty. Now have a set of 4 19inch ti rims if anyone wants to make me an offer.? They could do with a refurb but not terrible condition, they look like they've had some work before and I scuffed one last week so the new shiny ones went on...

Today, as per yesterday, tomorrow and probably the rest of the week & weekend, I am finishing my "159 Bass install project"

Although while I had the front in bits today I put in a new pollen filter, and performed the "window rattle fix" to the air intake trim.

Moved everything (sat nav, cd's, ice scraper, sun glasses etc etc) into it, from the beamer that goes back to the lease company tomorrow morning. All set for the transition to the 159 on a full time basis!

Got it up and running after close to a full rebuild, top to bottom, front to back. Now she's clean and puring with all the wheels pointing in the right direction after a full hunter alignment this morning.

I'm in love again, just the exhaust cam to run it then of to see Gus.

Wash & Wax after it got covered in saw dust while finishing the Bass install. Looks very shiny again! - I tried a new Wash n Wax combo, Meguiar's NXT Generation Car Wash & then NXT Tech Wax 2.0 on the body & AutoGlym Alloy Wheel Seal on the wheels. The Wax smells like lip gloss / lipstick which, had my wife not have wandered over and smelled it, could have led to a difficult conversation as to why I smelled of lipstick.

Brera 2.2 SV "S"

Put new badges on front and back. Had to buy some new nuts, bolts and screws from homebase to replace the rotted ones though...and this is on a 07 plate!

Gearbox oil changed, front subframe de-rusted and hammerited, turbo pipes checked over and a couple of clamps nipped up.

The subframe was quite rusty - I'd suggest anyone with an older 159 has a good close look at theirs.

Just coming back from a 50kms rough driving after gettin the EML and the check engine message! Limp mode, rpms wont go past 3250 and a real punishing to go past 100 kms an hour! toke it for a spin and after 20 minutes driving itreturned from the dead! I'm felling that power lump when going in 3rd step the pedal down it coughs for just a split second and then gives all the power again! I'm thinking that the MAF is surrendering this time... might check it out tomorrow along whit the Egr (wich i did clean in March, aparently not to well i supose!) and the inlet control unit. Man, what a nice way to start my yearly hollydays, around the car, all i was planning on doing was to give him a proper wash an clean out...

Interested to know how the decat works, please keep us informed!

I drove mine today after working on a 2004 Primera. Holy Mary Mother of God, that thing is ugly next to a 159

edit: actually, it's ugly even standing on its own...

Replaced the rear boot badge on my 2.4 ti and the front badge as well. I was amazed at how much the rear badge had faded and also amazed at how easy it was to replace.

Looks so much better. After much umming and arring I've now decided to hang on to my 159...I just love it too much.

I've also had delivered a whole new set of Ti badges as the red lettering had gone more pinkish.

Very Very carefully masked off all the wire grill area on the grill and front bumper and hand painted with satin black metal paint the wire grill - amazed how much "newer" the front of the Brera looks - using metal for grill mesh sounds like a good idea by Alfa but it doesnt wear well even on my low mileage car. (looks better now though)

Swapped it for an almost new Insignia CDTi SRi
- well someone is paying for something to happen to my SW and the pleasure of driving the SRi!

Aplogies for the transgression of a non-Alfa car image, but why is there no equivalent Alfa model?
