i honestly dont know sir. the whole aerial and the piece that it screws into is just spinning in the rubber mount, i'm wondering if i loosen the headlining to undo the retaining nut, and remove the whole unit, if i can separate them that way.

just a real pain.

Phil.

An Automobile

Repaired the Auto-Levelling Bi-Xenon Headlights

Been blinding people at night for a couple of days and was worried the auto level motors had gone on the bi-xenon lights.

Called Jamie from the Alfa Workshop in Royston and he advised me how to check the auto levelling rods were connected to the suspension. (on the nearside)

Front was fine, had to jack the rear up and crawl underneath to find the rear rod was hanging freely. Replaced a missing nut and tightened both front and back.

Thank you for the quick advice Jamie!

Cool fix

I chuckled and developed a wry smile as the Alfa developed a squeak to accompany the knock on the suspension. If I leave it long enough it might make a whole musical accompaniment with the other buzzes and squeaks.

Went to fit the new scuttle wings I had bought a month ago.
Ended up dismantling the scuttle board and removing and cleaning everything in there (bit of waxoyl added for luck)
On reassembly could not get the plastic fasteners to hold everything down securely (never did).
As it turns out the front fasteners can be replaced by nut and bolt
- enough room for spanners at the back of the engine bay.
Scuttle no longer "scuttles"!

Took it out to play in the sun.

Then drove through town so I could admire it in the reflections of the shop windows.

Quite surprised how good it looked in the car park lighting with all the reflections.

All that effort with the clay bar and DA polisher was not wasted, about 2m refection of the roof in the bonnet

Had the alignment done at local tyre place , Set to Zero as front tyres had worn on inside edge , 2 new Khumo ecsta sport le tyres fitted 204 notes all in , initial indications on the tyres are good ,no squeel on roundabout and very little road noise .

Mostly, I;ve been massacring assorted bugs with the front of my car....boy does she need a clean! Just got back from a two day trip to Scotland for work. York to Ayr, and back with lots of running around in Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. Our Alfa-owning friends north of the border really have some fantastic and little used roads to play with! Good test for my recently renewed suspension, and a great work out generally. Love how my bella handles those corners and bends, and the 2.4 just delivers endless amounts of smooth power on demand.

Found the squeak on my suspension. Looks like an ancient manufacturing / assembly fault - the lower clip on the bottom balljoint was partially off which has led to water getting in...

So it's packed with grease and I need a new lower arm asap...
