The rubber ones expand when they get hot, there has been a lot of good feedback on here from those who have switched to braided hoses supposedly improving response considerably and for 60 for all 4 it seemed silly not too, I want to get as much done as possible whilst I'm changing all the bushes and brakes. Roll on Thursday.

Nope straight on. The car was in dire need of a full machine polish but this treatment has taken all the swirls and light scratches out with just the ceramic coat! I am genuinely impressed!

Watched a few CQuartz things and it looks very interesting, although I have to admit I'd rather pay someone to give it a good clean/coating if I could. I seem to lack the patience to do these things properly...

I was amazed by the results Initially, mine were fitted with standard pads and the difference was fantastic. With PF pads, the results are mind blowing.

Still the same servo power but a much better pedal without any grabiness.

Work today on t'Alfa started off as looking for a squeak, ended up as a cam belt and water pump change, plus intake manifold removal and clean-out.

Selling garage said the cam belt had been changed. If he did do it, he didn't change the tensioners or the water pump. Pump shows signs of leaking, belt had been rubbing on the cover and is about 3/4 as wide as it should be

I would propose that the sellers parents were not married....

Took my 159 to get a rear engine mount fitted, and in the process an oil leak on sump was identified and corrected, and oil changed. I've been having some issues with regens and feeling a physical sensation when it happens, so asked the garage to see if anything faults logged in the ECU - this seems to point to clogged dpf, so asked them to force a regen and see whats what. I took it for a spin afterwards and it underwent yet another regen - I think the DPF's days are numbered! Now I need to decide whether to save for a replacement, or a removal.... . My wallet hates me .

In two spells I have cleaned the winter gunk off the suspension and lubed all the bushes.
Then today oil flush and new oli and filter (after 8000 miles).
Also Forte Induction Chamber cleaner.
Underneath further waxoyled - in particular the steel protection plate surrounding the rear prop shaft.

Nothing that you would see but all very important to keeping the car.

Considered cleaning it as my father's use of other people's things dont included a "clean up after use" but there were 30 outside so i keep my bones inside. and today is one of Portugal's most sensitive holydays anyway, no day for hard working. Maybe tomorrow i'll clean it and tke it for a spin to see if there's some love left!

alfa romeo 156

Contacted Autolusso at Wimborne to get my timing belt changed.

Supposed to have been done but noticed a chatter couple of days ago which sounds as though it's coming from belt area.

The woman I bought it from reckoned previous owner had it done. But he "lost" the service book, there's no sticker on the belt covers and no reciepts. Having read on hear the propensity for some owners to sell just before belt due I decided it's not worth the risk.

Reckon I could do it but would need to spend money buying the necessary tools and then the time involved and doing it all on axle stands and hoping it doesn't rain...too much hassle!!

removed lower arms, prepped and waxoyled the front sub frame, removed flaky lacquer from calipers and prepped ready for re-laquering. Picking wheels up in the morning, once the new bushes finally turn up i'll be able to start re-assembly.

IMG_0954.jpg

So it was time to start getting the car ready for summer.

5 panels done, just the front bumper, 2 doors, rear quarters, rear bumper, boot and the roof to go.

Now to finish my cup of tea and bowl of Ricicles and get back to it.

God what have I started.

Hi all.
I ordered a xenon look upgrade kit of Ebay (not HID's just bulb kit) & thought I would have a go at changing all
the bulbs despite reading all the horror stories in previous posts(should have took advice & left well alone.lol)
Managed the dipped & fogs without too much trouble but the sides & full beam bulbs are a complete joke as said many times on here.
Used the mirror as advised when going for the sides but ended up snapping off the black bulb holder (driver side)when pulling to get the bulb out.
I doubt I am the first to have done this as I used hardly any force yet the damn thing still snapped off.
Left the others well alone now as the passenger like looks 10x worse to change.
So I now have dipped & fogs with Xenon look(blue) with the sides & full beam as standard(Yellow).
Not a major problem but would be nice to get the others done.
Now I have snapped off the plastic holder for the sidelight does this now mean the front bumper has to come off to replace the bulb?
Any advice appreciated on how to get this one sorted if anyone else had a similar problem.
Thanks.
