Been sounding like a bag of spanners lately, so today I filled her up with V Power diesel, added 300ml of 2 stroke, then blasted up the motorway at quite high revs for 50 miles (obviously at 70mph!).

Running much smoother now, nearly no ticking & tapping noises and much smoother revving!

So, to celebrate, i broke out the polish and give her a damn good shine!

I've also booked in for a cambelt & water pump on Thursday, not risking it!!

Really annoying isn't - I parked miles away from any cars last weekend and some idiot managed to knock his door against my rear quarter panel I noticed it when I washed the car when we got back.

Need a good dent/paint magician in Warwickshire to make it all lovely again

Yeah, the spaces in York don't help either...

Some spaces can fit 2 cars in, while others would struggle to accommodate even a Peel P50!

I got some great notes for Christmas for that situation. To be left under windscreen wipers, they read:
'thanks for parking so close, next time leave a can opening so I can get into my car, ******* like you should take the bus'

Had to fit some new dipped beam bulbs, one of my Ring 120% boyos packed in after less than 12 months. Thankfully I had some spare white/blue H7s in the garage. Quite surprised at the Ring bulbs not lasting terribly long though.

also, not entirely sure how long the Ring bulb had been dead as no warning message appeared on the dash. The car told me when I had a dead sidelight, I assumed she's pick up on main lights too. Obviously not.

Phil.

I think that is what it worked out to be... Full to empty was 450 miles in a 70 litre tank, and it was running on vapour when I got to a petrol station!

29.18 mpg if you used all 70 litres.

Still not the best, I take it you were having a lot of fun.

Installed a set of HIDs. What a PITA that was drivers side was easy but passenger side was agony with very little space available. They do look impressive though

Made the mistake of adding a engine treatment additive whit 30 litres of diesel. Then realised that product contains mineral oil. Man, Am I in trouble?
AHH, i serviced the EGR to, just to take the edge of...

Does adding 2 stroke oil do anything???
I know you say it runs smoother but i find that running on Vpower anyway...

I think a lot depends on the mileage before adding thses cleaners , additives etc. I put premium diesel in the 2.4ti to start with which upped my mpg a touch but noticed nothing on the throttle response , drivability etc. Then went back to standard diesel plus Millers DUE TO IT BEING about 20p a gallon mixed , less than using premium. It was almost immediate in my case that a better response was felt on the throttle PLUS it equalled the premium mpg.

The two stroke is simply to clean it up provided you hold it in 4th or 5th and drive hard enough for long enough BUT no extra cetane of course , as in premium or adding Millers.

Filled her up on the way home from work with the addition of a can of Archoil 6500 DPF/Cat cleaner and took her on a 70 mile round trip this evening up the M6 when it eas quiet to give it chance to start to work as my daily commute is quite short.

Put the 5th Beru glow plug in and filled it up with fuel & a double shot of Millers. Seems to be running really, really nicely at the moment - even starts without fuss at -1'c, which is new!
