Perhaps a bit sacreligious, but I used mine as a removal van to move stuff to a temporary home while ours is extended and renovated. Back seats down and loads of stuff goes in.

I had a misshap with mine , whilst driving home from the in laws in Nuneaton some 150 miles away got within about 35 miles of home and on a particularly fast stretch a soddin, muntjac deer pops out from the near side with no warning .
wallop !!!! no time to react . upshot is -- smashed front bumper , damaged rad , smashed o/s grille fog light and surround .and a severely damaged pride .bo%%"*%.

450 excess on my insurance . I ve managed to source all parts including a colour matched (new AR parts ) bumper
for the grand total of just under 400 .

just hope the bumper is a good match . as I will probably have to search out a tutorial on how to remove and replace the bumper !!!!

going to get the tracking checked today as a precaution .

did all the bodge repairs yesterday including covering the hole in the air box , and removing the lump off deer poo from the rad , and then washed the blood and guts off it .
not a good weekend really .

don't think I shall be visiting the inlaws again as last time we went I had to have the w/screen replaced !!!!

Put some diesel in it the other night, a guy in an Audi A3 was giving my car a good looking at. When he came out of the shop he said to me, that's a really nice looking car!

Had the dash cerntre console and part around the gearlever wrapped in black brushed aluminum (Ti-style) - wow! what an improvement - looks so much better.
Next up is the 'factory-original-looking' touchscreen stereo via AliExpress.

Tried to start mine, after it failed to start last time, no problem at all, battery at 12.8v cold and 13.9 when running, will keep an eye on the solenoid in the starter and that cable under the batteery!

Alfa Brera

Just collected my Brera from the paint shop after treating it to its ten year birthday present, a front end respray. Looks great.

Now I've just got to fit a new alternator, sort the parking sensors, replace front fog lights, sort out a juddering problem with the engine, oh! and source a used set of column stalks or bite the bullet and shell out 400+ on a new set.

Not bad for a ten year old car but not that good for one which I have had from new and has only covered 35,000 miles.

Smile The Brera "mind of its own" list is getting Shorter

I'm getting through THE LIST!

1. Drivers Window switch - dismantled and cleaned up. Drivers and passenger windows now working properly
2. Air Con Fan working now. was a nightmare in conjunction with problem 1. I can tell you!
3. Parking sensors warning.... disappeared itself.... Must be a weekend.

Next... Steering Lock warning light. This came on for a few months, then went away for 3 months and now its back! Grrr

CD Changer... no power to it.... I'm on the case.

The Spider was treated to a quality oil and filter change. I also replaced both mirror glasses....the old ones had gone a bit funny at the bottom like the backing was delaminating or something...any how nice new ones fitted. All is good in the hood. ha ha

Done absolutely nothing to it apart from look at it. But tomorrow I'm allowed to drive again a week after surgery for a heart attack. I knew the price of those tyres would almost kill me. But on a serious note many thanks to the Bristol heart institute and the surgeons and nurses that looked after me.

Got my winter 17" alloys set re-painted to chrome shadow (light variant this time). Reason for repainting was that original paint started comming off from inside side of spokes on edges, as well as there were a few bubbles/blisters on the sides of spokes, so there was right time to get that sorted out.

18" horseshoe summer set is the same paint but done to dark version, so have bigger change between seasons.

Passed an MOT. Unfortunately I have a horror story of advisories that Mr Stephen King would be proud of.
Some of which I kind of knew about one which stupidly I missed.
  • Handbrake 16% efficient - just passed.
  • Corrosion to rear lower suspension arms.
  • Slight corrosion to front and rear subframe.
  • Slight play in steering track ends.
  • Very high tyre wear inside edge front tyre (forget which). That one I should have easily spotted.

I've ordered four Michelin Primacy 3 tyres to start with.. the easy part

Alfa 159 3.2 Q4

Not all done today but the car has been on SORN since March '16 and today it passed its MOT.

Between March and now, I've done the following:

1. Fitted new RH Front wheel bearing.
2. Fitted new front brake pads.
3. De-rusted, painted and waxoyled rear wishbones.
4. Fitted new rear springs.
5. Fitted centre and rear Supersprint exhaust system.
6. Painted front and rear calipers yellow .
7. Clean up bonnet catch and hopefully fix 'bonnet open' switch.

Next jobs are to fit HID dip beam bulbs and do a proper polish and waxing.

Nailed 213 bhp on the Dyno today with my 2.2 JTS - 15.5 % increase in power.

Must have been the Cloverleaf Bages that made all the difference. :-)

Dyno print attached to seperate thread.
