My HiD's keep going off. It was just the right side but now the left does it too. Never together. Is that a sign they are on their way out?

It was the ballast that died in mine.

What have you done to your 159/Brera/Spider today?

If you have an aftermarket set yes, but just seen your separate thread and seen it is oEM, in which case check the wiring, fuses and the steering stalk.

Brera 3.2 V6 Q4

Project Alleggerita

Iíve bitten the bullet over the last few weeks and looked at ways to make the Brera better to drive. Iíve already covered the basics Performance Friction pads, Autolusso braided hoses, Bilstein B16 three way adjustable coilovers (massive change). Now Iím adding lightness.

Ambition is to make the V6 Q4 nearly as light as the 2WD 1750, ie the lightest Brera and adjust the weight distribution while Iím at it. Plans include:

1: Rear seat delete
2: Carbon bucket seats
3: Carbon roof
4: Carbon bonnet
5: Carbon wings
6: Lightweight wheels
7: Lightened flywheel
8: Move the battery to the boot
On top of this Iím going to be adding some cosmetic bits too, interior trim covered in carbon, apple TV installation for wireless satnav

Letís see how it goes, Iíll start a build thread to show progress. Exciting!!!

Today, having owned my Brera for 17 months, I decided to replace the alarm LED in the drivers door. I had already bought a couple of LEDs to do the job. Finding them took me nearly two hours, they are quite small to say the least. Anyway, removed enough screws to get at the wiring behind the door panel, I did notice that his had been off at some point in the past. Before pulling any more apart I decided to test the connector, it worked so power was getting to the connection that I also noticed had been damaged in the past. Anyway I decided that the wires were the wrong way around, there was no colour coding on the bit that is fixed to the door. The wires were the wrong way around, stopped them over and hey presto, one blinking light. Yea!!!!. Felt very happy.

A bit late, so on Friday it went to the Alfa Workshop @ Royston for year 8 service. This wraps around to 18,000 miles again. I think the cambelt change will roll arould rather sooner on this cycle. MOT and service all good.

Checked some of the wiring that I could reach for the headlights. Sprayed copious amounts of WD40 around the headlights. Not sure if that will make any difference. So far no flickering lights but time will tell.
I also checked my battery which I thought was on it's way out after I've had a few odd messages and dash lights. Battery seems OK.
Replaced the cigar lighter fuse, yaayyy I have power to it again.
The cigar lighter itself appears to be on a hinge that moves it in and out? Well mine is all knackered and moves wherever the cable allows .

Priorities I find, are usually someone else's.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

Finally some decent headlights.. Since a bulb failed, I bought on ebay the Philips Xtreme Vision H7 and finally I've got light in front of me!! The OEM bulbs are miserable. Now let's hope they last until the end of the year at least!

159 JTDM, recent purchase.

On the weekend did a full service. Oil & filter, air filter, cabin filter, changed manual gearbox oil, now shifting much smoother.

Fuel filter on order and then change brake fluid and coolant in the coming weeks.

I bought a new one 2009 plate (new for me at least) whit only 50k miles on it, leather interior, all black inside and out, mkII sat-nav, 18 inch wheels and after-market 40mm lowered suspension, And a few other trinkets, original from Alfa Romeo, second major service already done, whit the swapping of all the OEM fluids for better aftermarket ones, brake pads swapped to EBC reds, Black sidewall pirelli Pzero rosso Assymetrico shoes whit "Pirelli" in red Lettering, it even came whit a full tank of diesel and a projected autonomy of 1100 kms per tank... I could never go higher than 40mpg in my previous ruby 159... This one, it pulls like a train, just as good as the Ruby did in it's first 2 years in my hand, lets see whats coming my way whit this black one...
I just couldnīt stand having to go trough bends and corners at 10 mph just to avoid the Montero's wobbling and sliding anymore... I'll keep it, for recreational or utility purposes at least.

I'll be in touch.

Fitted a new brake pedal switch today. Hopefully that will be the end of the annoying intermittent hill hold warnings.

passenger window wouldn't go up but would go down.
took the window switch apart and changed the metal contact for one of the other ones and put a small slice of sticky foam pad under the connector. sees to have sorted it.
couldn't do it without the help of this forum and it's knowledgeable members. cheers.

Came on again (did it when having an electrical fit before Christmas) on mine. Not on for a minute and then off.
Never use it anyway, I don't drive (or stop ) in a manner as to use it.
