Have you fallen out of love ?

I feel bad if I miss a weeks cleaning then again mine is black and that should be a 'throw away the key' offence if left that long.

Black cars certainly need a lot of love...just got a red car for my missus, have washed and polished it once and it's still so clean (about 4 weeks ago), my car gets dirty as soon as I take it off the drive...

You're not a true petrolhead until you have owned at least one Alfa - Jezza

. No mate. Have my own business and post-recession things are flying again .
It's taking up a lot of my 'spare' time if there is such a thing.
Many things have taken a back seat in recent months.

The Spider's now looking simply stunning again

Though I never was much of a car cleaner.
Every time I see the word 'detailer' it makes me laugh!

Black trim between doors restored, not with the silicone stuff, used T-Cut trim restorer, worked a treat, it then made the rubber around the windows look bad so done all those too, which in turn made the black mounts and surrounds on the wing mirrors look bad - so done them.

Not for this forum, but wife said it looked ace, can I do her Mini!! Loads of bloody plastic on those buggers!!!

put some lovely scratches down the off-side due to a bramble bush, country lane and a doddering old fart!

Had a go at plasti-dipping my wheels and sprayed the calipers yellow! Just waiting for the caliper stickers to arrive. Probably gonna get rid of the plastidip as its lifted in a few places and paint it using proper paint!

I'm a fan of the contrasting yellow calipers!! Difficult job to do? I'm useless at this sort of thing!!

Rear near side door won't open from inside or out, big pain (child lock is on too) it seems to be possible to get the door card off after removing the seat bench reading some threads on here.
Door working again, followed a few how tos on here, brave pills and a good amount of cursing. If it plays up again I'll replace it. The only thing I could find was one of the micro switches had its lever missing (so I bypassed that). With all of the fun trying to strip everything out without being able to open the door the child lock is staying off for a while and the dead locking function has been removed. Also got to tell the wife not to slam the door so hard. If anyone has to do similar remove the window winder motor and unbolt the regulator before removing the inner metal skin. I did find 20p under the rear seat bench though

All torque

+1. First saw them on a 911 and think it was their way of differentiating between standard and ceramic.
Sort of goes with the Alfa theme about being more about the look rather than outright performance.

Not that hard to be honestly, to do a real 'professional' job you would need to take the whole caliper off and remove everything. This was done on the wheel whilst using tin foil to cover all the bits that dont need painting. Give the calipers a good clean and rub down, etching primer, then a few coats of high temp paint

Cry Like A Baby i miss my alfa :(

It did'nt actually happen today. But here goes...

Friday morning at about 6 am, a vandriver decided to overtake me in my 159.
But apparently he had some depth perception issues, as he did'nt quite make it past me, before he pulled hard into the lane again. Where i was.
That maneuvre resulted in a smashed fender, front bumper and rim. And all the plastic in front of the wheel.

At first he tried to blame me, but later after talking to the police he agreed to take full responsibility.

That meant that i had to leave my dear Alfa at a local dealer, and drive in a s****y Fiat 500 for about a week.

So today i have prayed for my car. I certainly hope to see it again soon

Btw. First post. Great forum.

That alloy's had some serious kerbing, almost as bad as mine .
Hope you get the 159 back soon, and welcome to the forum .

Started & drove it for the first time in just over 4 weeks. 180 miles to Leicester. Lovely.

Definitely know the right car (the GT) is making way for the incoming GT86

Had the timing belt and water pump changed (44k, the guy in the garage showed me the water pump which was starting to go, glad I got it done) - 248 bargain!

Also he told me my tyres were all but bold at the front...yey for 159 inner wear...grrrr!

I've been struggling with trying to fix the rear passenger's side window regulator on the Sportwagon. For some reason the cables got snarled up on the wheel and are kinked. I have tried rewinding them but they just snarl up again. I am also not sure how the top cable is supposed to fit around the plastic wheel on top of the guide rail. I will probably have to buy a whole new one which hopefully comes in a complete assembled unit. The motor is fine. Does anyone have a set of instructions for fitting one?

My Brera is in the garage today trying to find the source of the very annoying clonking/rattle coming from the front nearside. It has eluded discovery since January when it first started. Hope today will see an end to it. Will post the outcome. Also having it serviced and rear parking sensors sorted out.
