Received the marvelous surprise for this christmas, the exterior door handle/openner cracked to failure and now the door only opens from the inside. Guess i'm storing the car again and go back to the Pajero during the winter...

Backed it into the drive too , so all can see the fab Alfa front end

Booked her in to Alfa specialist - CM Garage in East Kilbride for
timing belt/water pump change,
whiney fan belt,
Upper wishbone rear bush replacement
Faulty washer jets.

Still mulling over DPF removal/remap.

Our son was driving the 159 ti 2.4 jtdm automatic Sportwagon onto the freeway the other day when a guy in a new Holden SS V8 ute took off flat out in front of him. Tristan put his foot down and the 159 caught up quickly with no drama and the Holden couldn't shake him off. The speed limit is 100 KPH so they were able to push the cars up to that. My Alfa mechanic can now do a re-map after taking on a franchise for one of the big performance mod crowds that will give the car another 20 kw and 50 Nm of torque as well as cancel the EGR warning and stop the regens. We will save up and get it done one day. The 159 should be pretty quick after that and surprise guys in V8s even more! Tristan says the Holden would be heavier and have similar torque to the 159, so it was an interesting little drag and proves that low down torque counts for a lot. We love our Alfas in our family. My wife has the 159, I have my GT 3.2 V6, Tristan has the 3 litre 75 and our daughter has her 156 Twinspark.

Stopped by Autolusso for an interim xmas mapping session

Wayne has been working on the map and identified another torque limiter from the original map that had not been touched (4th gear limiter) So the plan was to just swap the map for one with an uplifted 4th as it was limiting me to 402nm which just isn't cricket :P

Of course, while we were at it, would have been rude not to squeeze a few more ponies out of her so we lifted all the maps & limiters another 5% and another 2% boost to just give her a Christmas tickle

Not sure what the actual boost is at now, but around 2300mbar so plenty of headroom in that turbo to play with. No more can be had till we get the FMIC in and the RR session though or she will become a full time smoker. So far with the increased levels we are still not smoking so that is testament to the health of the engine and skills of the team at Autolusso who keep her in tip top condition!

Drive home was typical rush hour traffic and congestion but I got a couple of places to stretch her legs and ooooof, that extra 5% made a hell of a difference!!!!

Cheers guys, always a pleasure

Just got my car back after a pair of swirl flaps went through the turbo.

Re-con turbo;
New inlet manifold;
DPF deleted, after it filled up with turbo oil;
Head off;
Valves, injector seals and valve seats cleaned and de-coked;
Cambelt and water pump, after finding a cheap knock-off;
re-map to suit DPF;
Oil + Filter to suit turbo;

Merry Christmas

Greased my door latch and it looks like a simple fix, I was half expecting there to be a fault. For now I can get out without opening the window and using the outside handle

After various scary noises from turbo and transmission thought it would be wise to part ex the Spider in for a new Mito QV TCT 170.
After a test drive was so pleased to get back in the old Bella, 10x the new one even tho it may have big bills

So just passed the MOT after a failure that the headlight washers were not working. Fixed (relay was removed and non-return obviously corroded) and then a pass. BUT they have never worked in the 2 years I have had the car and passed the previous MOT's…just a heads-up

My Brera got her Christmas present today- new timing belt & water pump. Some suspension work and a wheel bearing. She's an expensive lady but worth it. Five minutes of driving her back home and the huge smile on my face made up for my empty pockets

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that headlight washers were required equipment. Certainly, many cars don't come equipped with them. Like my Brera.

(edit) I just checked the government's website and whilst windscreen wipers and washers are required, there is no mention of headlight washers/wipers. Still, I suppose it's nice to have them working again.

You would if you have HIDs.

Unless it's one of those - if you have it it must work,like the tread on the spare wheel...

Failing that you garage is lifting your leg..

I have Xenons which require headlight washers, if fitted, to work - just interesting that items missed previously and not now. Anyway, Happy Christmas to you all !!
