Brera Love/Hate Affair
Its fair to say that my experience of ownership with my Brera has not been as expected, after the initial new car elation wore off I found myself getting more and more dissapointed and frustrated with the car.
Performance, economy and one or two niggles like the hesitation didn't help but after 22,000 miles (5,000 in my ownership) the car seems to be loosening up and with the addition of a set of Prodrive boxes a few months ago almost makes the grade in drivability and aural joy.
I can feel the potential in the car and have started to enjoy driving it more, even my wife commented on how the gear shift had loosened up (she complained of it being notchy) and the clutch felt lighter making it easier to drive for her.
So now I have a quandry, after so many months of thinking the car just wasn't for me and seriously looking at alternatives I'm now thinking how can I make it better, how can I realise the latent ability in the car?
The obvious would be to look at engine upgrades, what tuning is available economically to significantly increase performance without compromising the chassis dynamics.
It's a difficult choice now, one I know the wife will hate after the amount of money that got spent on the GTA.
Do I keep the Brera and embark on a series of upgrades or bite the bullet and move on to something that gives what I want.
What would you do?
