Inner tie rod DIY change

A quick one,

Is it possible to change an inner tie rod without the proper tool using a large spanner to release it from the rack? If so does anyone know the size of the spanner I'd require and also if I need to hold the rack to react the torque when undoing/tightening.

Hi, when I changed mine I used a big adjustable, I think the size is 41mm, and just to be safe I used another adjustable as a reaction spanner with a rag against the rack.
I also used a drop of loctite on the new threads.
