As I pulled into my driveway this afternoon I felt a dull "thud" from a rear wheel, checked it when I got out and the tyre was flat.
On went the space saver spare and off to my friendly local tyre factor.
I paid £220 for the pair of Acceleras on the front in July via BlackCircles.com but as I am currently on-call, I needed a replacement asap (I would not be happy driving great distances on the space saver, particularly with the weather as it is currently).
Turns out the tyre had a bloomin great screw in it, and although the inner-side of the tyre showed it hadn't been driven on whilst flat, even I could see that a repair wasn't going to happen.
The guy had a pair of 19" Acceleras in stock, and although the other side had 4mm of tread left, I opted to put a new pair on the rears.
I have to say, I have been very happy with the Acceleras on the front - minimal wear over the past 5 months, and never any issue with grip - worth repeating that I had the front geometary set up when the fronts were done (to the settings recommended here) and I am 100% happy.
I have come to the opinion that there is nothing wrong with 19" Acceleras, the dis-satisfied drivers seem to have the smaller sizes?
If I wasn't happy, I'd have bought Contis, but these PHIs have been up to the requirements.
I'd recommend them to a friend and (probably the greatest test) I have fitted them to the car I drive my family around in.
