Thought I'd post an update as I've not been on here for a while since you touched the car Gus.
Probably cos I was so happy with the results that I had nothing else to complain about.
I recall you said the gearbox was whining a little, this got loader and I noticed on load to overtake without knocking down agear the clutch slipped, poo I thought, Clutch and DMF next
1k passed since you changed the turbo and mapped it for me so it was time for the oil and filter change. I also noticed the oil level dropped one block on the LED display at start up. I promplty booked it in with my friend for the 105k service (Good timing), he's a mechanic for VW VAG group during the week who's done my wife's cars for some time now and he's bloody good and I'm one of his few weekend clients. Asked him to use Mobile1 as I thought I'd try it and see the difference to Selenia WR. Also got him to change the brake fluid, check the power steering fluid and gear box oil. Gear box he said leave it, power steering looked good and brake fluid was dirty, probably never changed.
On completing the service he showed where oil was weaping from, the oil feed pipe for the turbo, he pinched the 2 bolts up a little tighter and I'll keep an eye on it. There's also a bung that holds an air con pipe up on the sub frame (i think) to stop it resting on the belly tray, this had slipped off the frame and the pipe had been rubbing on the tray, some wear has occured but it's ok (not leaking).
Also the brackets that hold the tray on have rusted and one has corroded away, will have to get a replacement welded on but not sure where to get hold of one.
Anyway, after that service I noticed the whine had completely gone, no noise at all, nothing, quietest sounding 105k + deisel going with plently of pure smooth ooomph going providing I use the revs to rid any slip of the clutch. The cars runs like a dream and thanks to you Gus I aint selling it like I was planning, in fact any little job will get done as I love how it performs and handles. Your worth every penny, wish I came and saw you first, could have saved me £500 that another tuner robbed for some poopoo map and dodgy DPF removal.
After you changed the turbo and map I was averaging 45+mpg
After the oil change it's dropped to 39-42mpg probably due to driving it like it's meant to be driven now the turbo is run in and due to no whining
, the colder weather also affects fuel consumption so this could be a factor.
Thanks Pete for your advice and recomending Gus, just wish I could follow your progress, still got my old turbo sitting in the garage so you never know, maybe one day.
