I have found some interesting information on the subject over on the TDI Forums as well. It seems like, as the turbo experts in here have alluded to, adding a BOV to a diesel engine with a VNT turbo is possible, and you can gets kits to do it, but will NOT alter performance, and will NOT aid surge loading on the manifold due to the way the Dturbo's work. All it will do is make the noise, and potentially cause issues with the MAF/MAP and fuelling if not done right. So even at £90 for a cheap ebay kit, the risk is just not worth it.
Seems the best thing I can do to aid Turbo preservation in a tuned state on my car is to reduce exhaust gas temperature, by freeing the flow of gasses out the car, so the straight through, Turbo Back system is a better upgrade to focus on.
Thanks for all the advice, now I know what my next upgrade is.
