I'm on the other side too now. 1 month in a Skoda Superb shows that platform sharing is definately the way forward. Was glad to read that the next spider will share the same platform as the Mazda MX5 and no doubt will benefit from the skyactive tech but perhaps Alfa shall bring multiair engines into the mix too. If only they could get the DSG box from VW, I do like it.
Perhaps a similar deal will be struck with Mazda on the 159 replacement based on the next Mazda 6. I think that this could real winner - lightweight, well built, reliable, fuel efficient. Real 21st centuary tech but with added value from Alfa in terms of style, heritage, driver appeal etc.
