Getting a dog into the back of a 159 SW
Just picked up a 159 ti - 3 and a bit years old, low mileage, DPF/EGR all done, very nice indeed. It makes my old 156 V6 feel a little gutless, which is extraordinary. I will contribute to the "mpg" thread when I have a tank though it, but driving perfectly reasonably I seem to be getting about 40 mpg on the motorway and about 25 if I am ragging it, which is acceptable.
Anyway, the reason we got the SW is that we have a dog (German Shepherd, so a reasonably big dog). She will fit in the back no problem at all, and I have the separator for the back seats on order. The problem is the rear bumper, which is exactly where she will scrabble for grip if she misjudges the jump. She will obviously get no grip on the paint (she won't like that) and the paint won't appreciate being clawed either.
I was thinking of attaching a bit of old carpet to the back of the boot that could be flipped out to give her a bit of traction and save the paint. Anyone done this? Any better solutions?
