my car runs totally different now....
this is what i did:
I decided (if a bit blindly) that because the problem disappeared when i un-hooked the fuel line overnight, that it MUST be an injector...so i seeked out an official BOSCH tester, the one i used is called "Goods Diesel" in homerton east london.
I bought a spare injector off ebay (as reconditioned, from "rsceurope "...this turned out to be rubbish! (performing way out of spec) im going to pursue a refund). anyway, i substituted this injector in, one by one, getting all of my injectors tested....
injectors 4 & 5 although they passed the spillback test, were bad, very bad!
No 4) had a broken control rod, and was ebing held together by carbon build up, this would cost more than a replacement to fix, so i got a replacement re-con injector direct from BOSCH for £168 incl VAT
No 5) Had a worn nozzle, got it reconditioned @ £110+VAT
No 1) (this was the re-con from rsceurope ) eventually got taken out again, soon to be sent back as faulty
Once the ORIGINAL 5 injectors (including one BOSCH swap out) the smoking form cold is totally gone. not a hint of it at all! the car pulls hard an strong, rock steady smooth idle. and economy to boot!!!!
