A bit of a moan I'm afraid, my posts on the car itself are generally positive, but I am chuffed off with the consistently poor life span of suspension components on my Alfas.
The first 159 needed 2x upper arms at 70K, the GT needed 2x upper arms at 75K and now the 159 looks like it will need a lower arm at 96K.
Some of you may say that this is to be expected for the mileage, but in comparison the Saabs I have driven for years it is poor. I took the assorted Saabs well over 150K each and not one of them had a single suspension issue. Yet the Alfas are wearing the components out like they are formed from cheese, and cheap cheese at that!
Is this due to the increased handling ability of the FWD Alfas? Causing the components to wear quicker?
I look after my cars, don't drive like a tool, avoid pot holes and bad roads, get the geometry checked and set properly.
Am I asking too much of the suspension to last for a reasonable period of time/miles?? I have been pouring forth the positive virtues of the various Alfas I have owned for ages now, but I am struggling a little to be positive, more bleedin' money!!
