I'm not getting smoke straight away from cold and car ticks over fine for short while, although slow to fire on turnover. Once been ticking over for a few seconds, I can put my foot on the gas pedal and get no immediate response - take 3 or 4 seconds for revs to increase and they do so slowly. if I take my foot off the gas and press the pedal down slowly, the revs will increase slightly quicker, but, not the immediate response you would normally get and in a somewhat lumpy fashion. After doing this 5 or 6 times the white smoke will start and the running gets progressively more lumpy- and this is all before I even attempt to pull off the drive - If I put it in gear and try to pull away the car just wants to die - needs lots of revs to pull from away standstill and lots of white smoke !
I suspect either injectors or turbo -
All this has happened after the car went Bang, rattle, rattle, rattle at about 3500 rpm in 4th gear going uphill. The rattle sounded like someone throwing a handful of bolts down a metal pipe. The EML came on, the noises stopped and the car ran ok till I got it home. The smoke has started since, as there was no smoke when it went bang, nor after on the drive home.
