Purchased a replacement Camshaft Position Sensor. Removed the old sensor, fitted the new sensor.
Purchased a replacement MAF, removed old and fitted the new one.
Started the car up, and it stumbled a bit, and eventually fired up. But, the same story as before. It ran incredibly rough, then I was able to slowly increase the idle speed, before it struggled and cut out.
The warning "insufficient engine oil pressure" came up again.
Subsequent attempts to start were unusual. It turned over, then would stop and struggle to turn over. If I leave it, it would then turn over fairly normal but then struggle.
A warning came on the dash "anti polution filter clogged", but would disappear after starting. This did not occur all of the time, just a few.
The battery was fully charged, I even switched the battery for another which I had previously charged last week.
I replaced the cam sensor and MAF because error codes were recorded, and both parts were brand new.
At this stage I have two thoughts;
Timing - the belt has slipped?
DPF / polution filter - clogged and causing a lot of back pressure
My questions are:
what can cause the starter to struggle (other than battery)?
can a clogged polution filter cause the car not to start?
How common / likely is it that the cam belt has slipped?
