Spider V6 Front Discs and Pads
Currently trying to fathom the correct answers to the question about the most cost effective upgrade to the front brakes on my Spider.
The discs are about due for change "40,000 miles nearly" so pads are a necesity as well.
The size is fixed at 305mm since anything larger will require upgrade on calipers as witnessed when the GTA's had issues in the early 2000's.
So question whether discs should be vented or not? Assurance from local dealer that their disc's are vented but cannot prove by inspecting their stock because they don't have any. The last disc's they supplied some years ago were solid, hence my concern about the correct spec.
So far Bremco vented appear to be the best value at £106.19 . There are more expensive versions with drilled holes and/or fluting but they seem very specialized.
So onto Pads. Matching Bremco pads seem expensive even compared with the OEM price. £79.44 vv's £34.75, but I have no idea who the supplier is from Alfa.
Interestly, the supplier of the Bremco vented discs is suggesting TRW brake pads at £48.
Anyone out there with the knowledge and experience to nail the best solution?
Best advice about braking effeciency is to ensure that the condition of the discs and pads is paramount, dirt and unseen inner surfaces on disc's are biggest obstacles to efficient braking.
