Buying 159, window etch, damage and sticky clutch.
I'm not yet an Alfa owner but almost was yesterday.
I looked at a 159 sportswagon 1996. The windscreen etch matched the V5, but all the other windows didn't. They had all had the same number but didn't correspond to anything on the V5.
The number was in a VIN format three letters followed by 14 numbers. The dealer has come back to me to say its normal for Alfas. He seemed straight enough, but would like to check.
There was also an accident repair which the dealer also didn't know about. The front passenger side inner wing had been welded, quite badly as there was a few inch long pieces of mig wire still there, the welds themselves were just passable(seen worse). All the gaps were good and the job looked as if it had been sprayed and sealed OK.
The clutch was working fine but sticking after it full engage but before the pedal had returned to the top of its travel, just for a moment then it would hit my foot.
Apart from that all seemed well, I researched and checked all the usual suspects the 159 suffer from.
So what are your thoughts on the above? Loads of trouble or not to bad?
thanks for any help
