Right then, how best to have a discussion about noises in a forum???
I am about 3 months into my first experience of Alfa ownership and its a 2.4 159 auto Lusso. I'm quite tuned into car noises but I have now reconciled myself to it sounding like an old taxi wrapped in a tractor, particularly when cold.
Anyway, there is this other noise which is driving me mad simply because I can't work out if it's a problem or a 'feature'.
When the box is changing up whilst poodling around or on gentle pressure from the right foot ther is a strange, quite loud, um, metallic sigh from what I believe to be the turbo as it coincides with boost dropping off on the gauge. Not heard it on any turbo oil burners I have had before.
So, on the basis of not enough information and a poor description, should I worry?
The other question relates to a sudden misfire/vibration and power loss the other day on the M11. Moving up the hill towards North Weald the car suddenly felt like it had square wheels and no power. I eased up and it stopped. Moved over and slowed down and it did it only once more before I pulled off and stopped the car. Brakes felt fine, wheels and tyres fine. I took the key out started it again and from that point it ran us for 300 miles around Norfolk in the rain for a couple of days. Isolated ECU brainburp or something?
Sorry for the long post, but it's this or desperate housewives!
