The 166 is no way a better car then the 159. Lets rewind the clock to when the 166 was released with flakey paint, a sluggish 4-Speed Auto, it wasn't exactly fast, and the looks weren't to everyone's taste. So be it, i didn't mind it and i nearly bought one, (my uncle had one) however i just found the 159 to be better and more special.
The Q-Tronic is a good box, reliable and responsive. Mated with the paddle shifts and gearshift its a nice set up.
The 159 outsold the 166 so that may mean something? Despite the 159 being in a more competitive market.
"Alfa Romeo is something special. It occupies a place apart. It is a kind of disease, this passion for a means of transport, a very special way of thinking about a powered vehicle..... It's to do with feelings and passions, things that have more to do with the heart than the brain."
