159 Ti Fuel Consumption? Query..

Morning Alfisti,

I have a query on fuel consumption on my 159 2009 Diesel.
Have her now I would say 6 weeks, and no compliants whatsoever, when I bought her she was showing 8.5L/100 on avg.consumption and with lots of motorway driving had her down to 7.2L/10

Then I went back to the dealer to fix Blue&Me (no media found) which he fixed by disconnecting the battery and doing something else owing to a .5V charge? Anhow B&Me works perfect now but the fuel consumption's things off the radar..

Starting driving at 18.5L/100 and she came down to 7.2L but now it's over all the place currently at 9.0L/100???? So basically before the battery job, she was steady and decreasing, now jumping up and down
anyone see this guys?

If you are looking at average consumption you need to have a good few miles behind you after a reset before you get a steady reading.

I'm trying fuelly.com to keep an eye on fuel consumption tank to tank.

if your fuel consumption suddenly goes through the roof for a short period, it's a sign the car is doing a dpf regen. it'll do this once or twice per tank depending on type of driving. it'll only last about 10mins but will have a noticeable effect on your avg consumption if measured over a short period

Are you looking at trip A or trip B ?

trip A never resets apart from when the driver makes it reset on purpose (details in the manual)
trip B can be used in two modes. in Auto mode it resets every journey, in the other it operates like trip A and never resets unless cleared by the driver.

I think when you take the battery off the trip B meter defaults to Auto mode.
I just wonder if yoiu were previously reading Trip B and never reset it, but now it resets every single journey.

159 Ti Fuel Consumption? Query..

Hi Folks,

Some really good info here, many thanks. It's down to 8.2L from 9.2L after 90 mins of motorway driving, so the resst was it!

Just on the trips, trip A is what I have been lookingat all along, infact checked only this morning and Trip A and B are identical - I have never reset either manually.
thanks again guys
