Alloy Wheel Repairs

Sorry if this has been talked about before, I've done a search but can't find what I'm looking for. Anyway:

I have the 18 inch horse-shoe alloys on my 159 and very annoyingly badly scraped one the other day against a car-park curb. I have found a local Alloy Wheel repairer who is suggesting it will be just as well to get all 4 done so they match. I want them kept as 'original' and this apparently is a high gloss silver, a reflecting type silver, rather than the standard silver alloy. The standard price is 60 per wheel, but the original finish is 95 per wheel. Almost any other finish I choose would be 60 per wheel. So, am I right to keep them original or should I be a bit more adventurous? The car is black, and I think the high gloss silver looks particularly good:

Don't listen to what I say, listen to what I mean ..............

This was debated in another thread, and ultimately comes down to personal taste vs what you want to spend.

My personal view is to spend the little extra and get the Hi-Power Silver powdercoat colour, the Horseshoes and Ti Wheels are stunning and I think we should show them off to their full glory rather than dull them down.

Well.....we had 2 Ti s at one stage and when we got the older one done, yes it's not as sparkly as the original.

But parked next to the brand new factory wheels....the originals looked too bright, a mate said they looked like Halfords wheel silver! So the standard powder coat silver was actually more subtle.

I would have a good look at the samples outside next to the car and see which you prefer before you spend your hard earned.

You could sell them to me and treat yourself to some Ti wheels

I need mine doing as well

As they are 18" horseshoes in anthracite, I doubt very much if I'll get an exact match. The flip side is nobody would know as I have never seen another set of anthracite 18" horseshoes to compare them too!
