Alfa Romeo 159 JTDM - 150HP Turbocharger issue
Even though i am here for a while, i am writing my first post now, because i need your help, or maybe advise. I hope you will understand me, because English is not my native language.
I bought AR 1.9 150 HP, 2006 from the local dealer of used car. The car was imported from Italy. When i bough it the car had 138 000 km, for what i have received a guarantee from the seller.
After i did all services, changed filters, oils, timing belt etc, i had my way to a long trip 3500km. After 500km, my car was in a limp mode, and engine check light was turned on. I managed to come to a service shop (unfortunately not authorized AR) and they told me the EGR or overboost sensor is dirty or failed. They advised me to finish my trip and after coming back home to check those 2 things.
I continued my trip (mostly on highway) and i passed 3000 km, sometimes my car was in safe mode, sometimes i could drive it without problems. When it goes to limp mode i just needed to turn it off then turn it on and i could drive it normally.
I came home and other then that i noticed a new problem, when the car was not in limp mode i realized that i have lost power. Lost power = sometimes when i accelerate for example in second gear car goes like it should be, but in second attempt Turbocharger is not doing his work, car accelerates linearly and i don't feel the turbo kick like i should, regardless the fact that pressure on turbo is shown on maximum. Car is just slow, like i dont have Turbo charger at all...
I left car at my friends service shop and he checked everything he could, he changed EGR , sensor which is giving the pressure on the turbocharger, he cleaned suction, he checked all the hoses but problem was still here...
We have noticed that DPF filter has cut on it, and it was opened before... Diagnostic showed that DPF is 90 percent cloged. We did regeneration but problem remained...
He took Turbocharger and went to Turbocharger service shop to diagnose the current condition. The result was: Impeller on the Turbochargers outlet is burned... As they explained to him, there are 2 possible reasons: 1. Failed chip tuning 2. DPF clogged and emissions were coming back to a Turbocharger for a while and impeller is burned.
Becaused my car does not have chip tuning, I believe that i have driven the car with clogged DPF, and i have burned my Turbocharger... Is this possible scenario?
Service shop looked my Turbocharger when i bought the car and they told me that as they can see its in a very good condition it is completely dry and it is not oily at all.
At the moment i am waiting the seller of the car to contact Italian company where he bought the car for advise... and my next step is to pay 400 euros for Turbocharger repair and to remove DPF for 150 euros hoping that after that everything will be fine.
I know that text is not perfectly written and maybe is too long, but i would appreciate any kind advise from you guys, because i bought car 3 months ago and i already invested in complete services, and i am running out of money, i can not afford any more wrong steps...
Thank you in advance.
