Juddery steering

Hi all,

Got a 56-plate 159 1.9 JTD, 60k miles on the clock.

When cold the steering fine. However when warmed up and the car is stationary or at very low speeds i.e parallel parking, the steering is juddery, and can make some odd knocking noises from lock to lock.

Have read loads about different coloured fluids and am a bit confused by it all to be honest.

Any ideas what could be wrong with it?

If the fluid is red and if its frothy with teh engine running, you need a new reservoir and a fluid change to Tutela G1/R, though if its been a problem for a while, the pump may be chuffed too.
